The Crush:

“…and in Paris, it was awesome! You wouldn’t believe how free they are down there! Hell, you can make out in the goddamn street and no one would blink twice!”

“No fucking way!”

“I kid you not! I swear I was walking down Champs Elysees and bam, two women right there on the street feeling up each other’s boobs and shit…”

There’s no denying that it’s Duo regaling the others with tales about his trip to Europe as I slowly climb the steps which lead to our ‘special spot’ on the main school lawn. If you remember, this is where the guys and I usually hang out to either study or have our lunches if we don’t feel like being inside.

To summarize my morning for you, it pretty much went a little something like this. Spent a good ten minutes trying to convince Coach Septum that I wasn’t planning to turn the school into a gay hive and then raced to homeroom with barely five minutes to spare much to Mr. Hamida’s disapproval. Still feeling put off by Duo’s display, I left the room before him, hoping he wouldn’t have Advanced Chemistry with me. Luckily, he didn’t and I was spared from dealing with him for at least forty minutes. However, I wasn’t so lucky for the next one, we both had Algebra and I had to suffer sitting through half an hour of Duo making ‘kissy’ faces towards me or giving me seductive looks which made sitting still extremely difficult. I couldn’t leave the room fast enough when it was all over and all but ran into the Mrs. Sakon’s Literature class, holding my breath in anticipation of Duo’s arrival. But to my relief, he hadn’t signed up for this class either.

Of course, this left me wondering why Duo hadn’t registered for the same classes but then I quickly kicked myself inwardly for assuming such a thing. Duo was his person and I was…well…me. We couldn’t very well take the same classes if our tastes and interests were different as it obviously is. I should have asked him about his subjects over the holiday. In fact, I should have asked him about a whole lot more.

And so here I am, finally meeting him again. Needless to say, he’s the center of attention as he pushes himself away from the tree to lean closer to his captive audience. His hands move about as he talks, up, down, side-to-side, describing the sights and sounds of Europe like only he can. I watch as Relena and Hilde make their way towards the quartet and our little group is now complete.

“…Danserais-tu avec moi?"?”1

The girls giggle at his flawless accent and even I feel my cheeks get a bit hot as he rises to his feet and holds out a hand to Hilde.

“Mademoiselle? A dance?”

Blushing to the roots of her purple hair, Hilde accepts his offer and the guys make room for them. I watch as Duo wraps an arm around her slender waist, pulling her snugly against his body. I try not to grit my teeth at how close they are or how Duo’s hand is beginning to slide down her back, her firm rear and just below the pleated hem of her skirt. Christ! He’s this close to actually slipping his damn hand beneath it. But of course I’m not jealous. I have no right to be jealous after all, I had only slept with Misa Ogata over the summer and all but cheated on Duo.

“Oooh!”

Hilde’s breathless gasp snaps me out of my reverie and I watch as Duo dips her again, his face mere inches before her flustered visage and then pull her back up again. He twirls her around, his body moving effortlessly across the grass. He really is in good shape and for a moment, I can almost see him in some grand ballroom in Paris, dancing with either his mother or some flirty Parisian female.

“Me next!” Relena cries out with a wave of her hand. “You’ve got to dance with me next, Duo.”

He laughs and places a soft kiss on Hilde’s cheek before reaching out for Relena. Now, with the two girls by his side, Duo still manages to regale them with his latest dance moves and I can only watch in growing irritation. Geez, what a damn show off…huh?

“Sor…sorry sempai!” I turn my head around quickly to stare into the flushed visage of a freshman. You can always tell who they are because of the red pin upon their lapel. It was the welcome badge awarded to all new students. His wide green eyes seem to be filled with fear and worry at my reaction. You see, he had tripped and spilled his drink against my pants. Luckily, I have an extra uniform in my office, but it’s going to be a bother walking up there right now. Shaking out my leg quickly to get rid of the excess water, I manage a small smile towards him.

“It’s okay. No harm done. Just be careful next time.”

“Than…thank you, sempai!” He turns a bright beet red and I wonder if he’s going to pass out soon. He seems to be hyperventilating for some reason. Oh and did I mention that he looks like a boy just begging to be harassed by the delinquent seniors of the school? He looks so pretty and delicate, it hurts.

With a quick bow, he begins to walk away…backwards…and then ends up tripping some other student. I can see that he’s going to fall and probably break a skull in the process and without thinking twice about it; I reach out to pull him back up to safety.

“Christ, can’t you be more careful?!” I didn’t mean to snap, but Duo’s (somehow he’s always the one to blame for me being distracted) antics are really beginning to annoy me. Hasn’t he noticed me yet?!

“Sor…sorry…” the boy whimpers and he’s literally trembling in my arms. He turns his face away and releases himself quickly. He bows again and without saying another word, runs – without bumping into anyone else, thank goodness – into the building.

Man, weird kid…

“Either you’re extremely happy to see me or that is you needing to go to the bathroom, Heero.”

“Shut up,” I mumble and continue to shake my leg. Damn, it really feels like I did ‘go’ on myself.

However, Duo wraps his arms around my shoulders from behind and whispers into my ear. “Let’s go.”

“No,” I reply quickly, trying to still my pounding heart at how close he is. I refuse to allow him to toy with me like this. “Aren’t you with the others?”

“Well, I’m done,” he says, his finger creeping towards my necktie to tug it gently. “I think I’m hungry…”

“I’m not fucking you, Duo,” I grate out tightly, my cheeks darkening at his soft laughter. At least not right now…

“Oooh, naughty, Heero Yuy. I didn’t say I was going to screw you senseless…as much as we both obviously want to do it…”

“Could you two like find a room or something?” Quatre says as he taps my shoulder gently. They are making their way back to class and I notice that Relena’s been stopped by one of her secretaries.  “Keep this up and you two will soon be…”

“No way!” Relena suddenly cries out causing us to look to her in surprise. She’s flipping through several photographs, her eyes as wide as saucers. I can feel my heart beat racing much faster than before and I have the sinking feeling that I know what those pictures contain. “What a scoop! Our first major story of the school year!”

“What’s that about, Relena?” Wufei asks with obvious curiosity.

Don’t tell him! Don’t tell him! Please don’t…!

Relena catches my gaze and smirks. “Don’t worry. You’ll all see it in our first publication. So stay tuned!” She grabs Hilde and her secretary by the wrists and leads them back to school leaving the guys and I still lost in contemplation.

“You don’t think she has some picture of a teacher in a scandal, do you?” Trowa asks.

“Hmm…or maybe it would have something to do with me welcoming you,” Duo chimes in and I all but groan in dismay.

“Welcome…?” Quatre looks blank as well as Trowa and Wufei.

I open my mouth to explain, but Duo beats me to it with a thumbs up sign. “I kissed Heero outside…beside the gym…”

“In front of the goddamn school, Duo!” I retort. “Do you have any idea what I went through with Coach Septum?! You could have just waited…”

“But I didn’t want to wait. I’ve missed you.”

“Bullshit…!”

“Language now, young man…”

“Don’t tell me what to do…!”

“Looks like they’re back,” Wufei says with a groan as he turns away with Trowa and Quatre in tow. “Let’s get out of here before someone explodes.”

__

Five minutes later and I’m stomping down the hallway towards my office with Duo strolling casually behind me.

“I honestly don’t know why you’re getting so worked up over nothing. It’s not as if we haven’t made out in public before.”

Keep your cool, Heero. Keep your cool…

“I mean shoot, you make it seem like it’s a crime to kiss you, Mr. Perfect Heero who’s now the President and doesn’t like to take crap from anyone else.”

I open up the door to the office and as soon as he walks in, I kick the door behind us and all but slam him against it. My lips seek his blindly and I suck in his surprised gasp as I kiss him hungrily. Now, this is much better. Away from the public eye, in the safety of my own domain, I can do whatever I want with him. I allow my hands to knead his tight ass hard, pulling him tightly against my body as our tongues continue their torrid battle. His moan is like music to my ears and feeling him tremble against me, I know I have the upper hand in this one.

Hmm, a quick fuck couldn’t hurt.

“Ahem!”

Eh?

Duo’s still licking my lips, murmuring something to me and although I’m really trying my best to concentrate on our foreplay, I can’t help thinking that something’s not quite right anymore.

“Sorry to interrupt you two but…”

That voice. Ken…Kenzo?!

I spin around quickly, almost elbowing Duo in the jaw as I come face-to-face with three blushing students in the room. Kenzo, the secretary Anna and some other guy I am not sure of.

“Fuck, Heero!” Duo cries out in mild panic. “What the hell are you trying to do? Kill me?! First you throw me against the door and then…oh…”

Oh indeed.

An awkward silence falls as we all stare at each other.

“Uuum…” Kenzo finally begins with a soft nod.

I blink as I notice he’s looking at my pants. Looking down quickly, I notice that Duo had somehow managed to unzip them with those deft fingers of his. Man, can I be anymore embarrassed than I am at this minute? I don’t know which is worse, making out in front of the school or showing my staff the extent of my…eh…lust for Duo.

I straighten myself up quickly and manage a small smile towards the trio. “Is there a problem?”

“Well” Kenzo says with a light cough. “I was actually here to drop off the list of possible candidates for Student Council and to inquire about a time for the meeting?”

“Ah yes…the meeting…” I begin to walk towards my desk. I remember I still have to change my pants but that can wait for now.

Kenzo eyes Duo and then turns to me. “Will he be here, sir? He’s not a member of the council…”

I’ve always known that Kenzo has never really liked Duo although I really think he ought to be grateful to Duo for his position. If my boyfriend hadn’t taken himself out of the running, Kenzo wouldn’t be standing here before me.

“He stays if I want him to stay,” I reply coolly and ignoring the tight smile he gives me, I nod towards the silent junior “And who are you?”

“He’s a member of the Art Club,” Anna explains quickly. “He was here to ask for permission to use the auditorium this Saturday for a club meeting. The art room is still under construction at the moment.”

“Isn’t there an event there this weekend?” I ask, thumbing through the list before me.

“Not to my knowledge,” Kenzo says. “We can grant…”

“Although, I do hear that the Drama Club might be using it,” Duo suddenly chimes in with a wave of his hand. He’s made himself comfortable on one of the couches and seems to be interested in an auto magazine someone had left there earlier.

“The Drama Club has not asked for our permission yet,” Kenzo interrupts with barely concealed impatience. “They can’t just use it without seeking our approval.”

“Oh, so you guys are now the law of the school or what?” Duo asks as he glances at us from the top of the magazine. There’s a dark look in his eyes and I can tell he’s getting upset as well.

“We are the law of the school and do our best to uphold that law,” Kenzo says in a rather patronizing manner. “If you don’t like it, you are free to leave us…”

“That’s enough, Kenzo,” I interrupt firmly, frowning in disapproval at his tone.

“And why is that, sir? Just because he’s your…boyfriend?” He seems to shudder at the word but I’m beginning to lose my patience at this time. “If it was someone else, sir, would you be as lenient?”

“I said it’s enough,” I snap coldly.

“No, sir, I have to have my say because I have noticed this since last year and I refuse to take it anymore.”

I glance quickly towards Duo, but he’s no help. It even seems like he’s relishing this moment. Damn it! Even, Anna and the second year student are watching us with great interest. I can feel a headache coming on.

“Fine. Say your piece, Kenzo.”

The dark haired boy takes a deep breath before continuing. “I have always respected you, Yuy. From the moment we came into this school together, I’ve always thought of you as the model student. But since he arrived, you’ve changed! You’re late to classes, you act like…like…”

“A sex-starved fiend?” Duo volunteers in the background.

“Exactly! Eh?” He blushes and catches himself quickly. He tries to glare at Duo and gets a cheeky grin in return. “I’m sorry, sir, I did not mean to call you that…”

I shrug. Let him vent. Maybe that will get rid of the stick that seems to be shoved up his ass.

“…I will say that he has been nothing but a bad influence to you and I really wish you would reconsider your relationship with him. It will affect your work as President and you might…”

“Do you want to be the President, Kenzo?” I ask quietly. I watch the confusion on his features and then the rush of color to his cheeks at the insinuation.

“No…I mean…I don’t…”

“Answer me, yes or no. Do you want to become the President?!”

He swallows tightly and I can see the beads of sweat on his brow. He’s clenching his hands into tight fists and I sincerely hope he doesn’t plan to punch anything or anyone soon. Finally, he lowers his head and takes a step backwards.

“I will see you after school, sir,” he says quietly. “I apologize for my rudeness to you…and to Mr. Maxwell.”

He picks up his school bag and with another quick bow, makes his way out of the room leaving the rest of us in silence. I sigh softly and hold out my hand towards the junior. With a decisive stamp of approval, I sign the paper and give instructions on what they are to do. I barely hear his profuse words of gratitude or Anna’s quick notes. I can still hear Kenzo’s accusation in my mind and I hate to admit that it is beginning to worry me.

Is it really true? Is being with Duo a hindrance to my duties? I’ve been embarrassed on more than one occasion because of him and I would hate to have my reputation as the school president tarnished because of my feelings for him.

What can I do? The only option I have is to tell Duo to stop displaying his affections for me at school.

Hmm…what’s that smell?

I lift my head and blink in surprise at the sight that greets me. Since Anna had already left - I hadn’t even noticed – it was only Duo and I left in the office.

“Wha…what do you think you’re doing?!” I don’t know what is more shocking. Duo smoking or the fact that he’s even smoking in school to begin with. “Since when?!”

He smiles and leans back on the couch, with the cigarette dangling from a corner of his mouth. “Since I learned the pleasures of a good smoke on the streets of Paris. You should really try it, Heero. It helps to ease off the tension you know.”

“There’s no smoking allowed in school,” I reply coldly. It’s the only thing that comes to mind at this time. It’s like Duo’s growing way too fast for me for some reason. Just what else has he been exposed to in that city of decadence?

/He’s been nothing but a bad influence to you../

But…I love him all the same! I’ve even told him that!

/He affects your work…your reputation…think about that, Heero!/

I watch his eyes narrow at my tone and I can only grip the pen in my hand tightly as he rises slowly to his feet. He eyes me a moment longer and it’s really taking all of my effort not to turn away.

“What he said,” he begins quietly. “Does it bother you that much?”

“It’s got nothing to do with Kenzo…”

“Oh? The guy’s got a goddamn boner for you each time and then he comes in here telling of how bad I am for ya. Ya gonna listen to him?!”

My headache is getting worse. And Duo’s resorting to his loser tongue, a habit he falls into when either agitated or extremely pissed off. I’m guessing he’s the latter at the moment.

“Duo…”

“What was all that talk about loving me, huh?”

“I do love you, don’t fucking doubt that!” I yell in frustration as I rise to my feet quickly.

“But?”

“Wha…what?”

“But you’re willing to hide our relationship if it saves your fucking reputation, isn’t that right, Heero?”

“Try to understand, Duo,” I plead softly as I walk around the desk and up to him. “This isn’t easy for me either but if I hope to do a good job as president, I’ll have to cut down on my…you know…on us being together so much.”

I had wrapped my arms around his neck, but he is making no effort to reciprocate my actions. Instead he stares at me through the fine mist of smoke – while I try not to cough – and then slowly withdraws from my embrace.

“Duo…” Damn it.

“I’ve got Drama next…” he suddenly, completely changing the subject which I am somewhat grateful for.

“You’re in…Drama?”

“What? Don’t I look like an actor to you?” He smirks and finally crushes out the cigarette against the school’s plaque on the wall. “Mrs. Bentley literally dragged my ass to her class last year and said I had to be in Drama this time around. So what the hell.” He shrugs and sinks his hands into his pockets.

“Ah…well…I’m sure you’ll do well in it…” I say with what I hope is an encouraging smile.

“Yeah…sure…”

We fall silent and I want to scream for some reason. He’s still upset with me, I can tell. But then a part of me wonders if he has a right to feel that way. If he loves me then he should understand and respect my wishes to keep our relationship under wraps in school.

“Duo I…”

He interrupts me by placing a finger against my lips. “Come over tonight?”

“Your place or mine?” I ask trying to resist the temptation to lick his flesh.

“I’m still with my mom,” he confesses softly. Damn him…he’s beginning to caress my lower lip. “She’s going to help me get my own place though.”

I give an inward sigh of relief, not really looking forward to seeing Mrs. Maxwell anytime soon. “Then it’s my place tonight and you can tell me all about your trip…”

“Yeah…” He smirks and I shiver a little at the dark look in his eyes. “And you can tell me all about your summer, Heero.”

Ah fuck…I knew this would have to come up sooner or later.

However, a sudden low thump against the door has us raising our brows in bemusement. It didn’t sound like someone knocking and we waited for another minute or so to hear it again.

“Looks to me like someone dropped something,” Duo deduced as he made his way to the door. He opened it slowly and peeked out and sure enough, there was a dark blue box wrapped in a matching bow, sitting innocuously out there. Duo reached for and pulled out the small note attached to it.

“To Sempai…from your biggest fan…N.O”

I blink and snatch the note from Duo as he shakes the box.

“Nope, not a bomb.”

“Idiot,” I mutter, feeling my heartbeat quickening as I stare at the neat handwriting. “If it was a bomb it wouldn’t be wrapped up that neatly.”

“Oooh, chocolates!”

“Don’t eat them! Duo! They’re for me, goddamn it!”

“Ah, so you do want to eat something from your crush! Share, Heero you meanie!”

A crush.

I dive after Duo, who’s still popping the éclairs into his mouth. I have a crush – someone actually having feelings for me and no doubt a junior or a freshman. Should I be pleased or worried?

The initials N.O do not ring a bell but I am determined to find out who it is anyway. My guess is that it’s some new girl who has no idea I’m already with Duo…but if it’s another boy………….

Nah, I do not even want to think about that. I already have more than enough to deal with.

TBC…
