CHAPTER SIX:

Kakkarrot ran blindly, stumbling and nearly killing himself over the rocky hills as he fled from…from what? He couldn’t quite figure it out…but he sure wasn’t going to hang around his naked prince any longer. Collapsing against a smooth rock, he leaned forward and tried to suck in precious air into his tired lungs. ~ Za’ani…I need to work out more. ~ Raising his head back up, he stared at his surroundings in slight panic. In his haste, he had barely given thought to his destination and now from his vantage point, he could no longer see the site.

~ Tak’na! Just what I needed! ~

Shivering slightly from his state of undress, he began to retrace his steps, silently hoping and praying that the prince would have left by now. He froze in slight shock as a vivid memory suddenly flashed through his mind. Raising shaky fingers to his lips, he could see the ha’ji in front of him, pulling his head downwards slowly towards his own mouth. He could taste the sweet yet spicy taste of the smaller Saiyan and looking down, he blushed, as his lower regions seemed to also recollect the memory. Shaking his head rapidly, he walked back to the cave, making sure that his tail hid his sudden state of arousal.

~ Oh gods, please let him not be there. ~

Kakkarrot?”

Radditsu!!” Kakkarrot yelled, gasping in shock and happy surprise as he watched his brother approach him from the other side of the stream. “You found me!!”

“What are you doing? Where is the ha’ji?” the older Saiyan asked, glancing around the empty looking caves.

“Why do you ask me?” Kakkarrot said sharply.

“Oh, please Kakkarrot. I can smell him all over you. Now where is he?” Radditsu asked, already making his way to the cave.

Kakkarrot went as red as the wild f’uari and sniffing himself he muttered softly, “I don’t smell anything.”

“You wouldn’t, you s’au. Now help me search for him.”

Grumbling under his breath, Kakkarrot began searching the surrounding caves, trying to pinpoint the location of the elusive prince.

~ If I can just follow his scent…his scent?! ~ Kakkarrot’s shut eyes, flew open with a jerk. Since when did he have to start relying on scents…especially the prince’s? Surprisingly he found himself remembering the way the prince did smell and going on instinct he began heading towards the cliffs that overlooked the site and the surrounding river.

Sure enough, Vegeta was there. Now fully clothed, the prince sat in a meditation position. His handsome features scrunched up in intense concentration. Kakkarrot’s tail began a slow wag in appreciation of the compact figure before him and he had to wrap it around his waist…tightly…to prevent it from giving away his obvious delight at having found him. ~ And I am still naked…~ He wondered if he should wait for him or just go ahead and tell Radditsu. Puzzling over his dilemma, the problem was quickly solved as the deep voice broke his thoughts.

“As much as I love the view, Kakkarrot…you would have to get out of my way…”

Kakkarrot spun around and opened and shut his mouth like a fish for several seconds trying to find something to say. Feeling his face heat up again, he lowered his gaze and mumbled his apologies, stepping out of his princes’ way.

Vegeta tried to control his thudding heart as he walked past Kakkarrot. He folded his arms even tighter against his chest as the other Saiyan’s smell hit him with a force that nearly made him weak in the knees. His tail curled around in a smooth curve and before he could control it, the appendage had snaked its’ way up the bronzed chest and around the muscled neck, causing both of them to flush in embarrassment.

“I…umm…apologize…” Vegeta said softly, removing the tail and tucking it tightly against his waist.

“It’s…it’s…okay.” Kakkarrot said weakly, wrapping his own wandering tail over his growing arousal again. “They seem to have a mind of their own, don’t they?”

Ahi…”Vegeta replied in the same quiet tone.

For several awkward minutes, the two Saiyans stood silently on the cliff, unable to stare at each other, for fear that their real emotions would be plastered all over their faces. Shifting from one foot to the other, Kakkarrot finally muttered out,

“They seek for you at the site, my lord. I was sent to look for you.”

Ahi. I have to go back…” Vegeta said dully, staring at the lowered head in front of him. He wanted so much to pull Kakkarrot into his embrace again, to feel and taste him for one last time, but… Sighing deeply, Vegeta slowly headed back towards the caves, noticing the rapidly approaching figure of Radditsu.

“My lord!” Radditsu said, bowing in respect. “You are wanted at the site. It is time.”

“Thank you, Radditsu.” Vegeta said with a small smile. “I eagerly await your call to join the elite. You will make a fine wa’zua.”

“Thank you, my lord.” Radditsu said, blushing slightly at the compliment. “I will escort you to the site. Kakkarrot, are you not coming?”

“In a little while, brother.” Came the muffled reply, as Kakkarrot sat himself down at the edge of the cliff.

Radditsu stood indecisive for a moment. Something was wrong with his brother…Za’ani…with both of them, as he also noticed the pale look on the princes’ face. Frowning slightly, he led the prince down to the site.

“Where is Kakkarrot?” Saida asked, as they both watched the wa’zuai get back onto their horses.

“At the cliffs. There is something wrong with him. Even the prince looks…”

“Sad.” Saida finished quietly. “He must be a very lonely man, being in charge of so many people and never having the time to find your one true love.”

Radditsu could only nod as Saida’s words sank into him. Was it possible that the ha’ji and his brother had feelings for each other? Za’ani! Had they mated?! Mumbling a quick ‘excuse me’ to Saida, he headed back to the cliffs.

He noticed that his little brother was still at the edge of the cliff with his head still lowered to the ground.

Walking up to him, Radditsu placed a hand on the strong shoulders.

“Kakkarrot? Ja’ri na di’?” he asked softly, noticing the trail of silent tears that were cascading down his brother’s cheek.

“Nothing, brother.” Kakkarrot replied quietly, as he turned his head away to stare at the distant mountains.

And in a voice that sounded completely dull and listless, he continued, “We are Ba’an brother and we do not mix with royalty.”
